Problem Statement
Research has revealed that owner absence means serious separation anxiety for pets because they are highly human-dependent creatures and suffer stress from being left alone. The common problem for dog owners is the theft of their clothes by these little creatures when they are not at home because it gives off their smell. Through this design, I have tried to address some of pet's emotional problems due to owner's absence.
By exploring the idea of a modal shift in this product I approached the mode shift to be in shared ownerships between a pet and its owner: a product that wholly belongs to a pet in one mode and to the owner in another mode. Through the sharing feature of this product- the pocket door- the relationship between the pet and the owner can be supported and strengthen. So, our full hamper can solve a core functional problem of dogs’ separation anxiety while adding a dog bed into it. As a result, whenever you leave the home you can easily turn the product to a dog bed through the pocket door, so that our furry friends can enjoy our smell while we are not at home. It also can turn to a big laundry when dog does not use it and make the dog to be proud that they can share their bed with us.
In this project, I sketched the visual storyboarding, modeled the final concept with Solidworks software, and rendered it with twin motion software.
